General assignment

The transport of wind turbine components to the erection site is a special branch of heavy goods transport. The major challenges arise due to the size of the components and the need to meet delivery targets and align these with erection and installation schedules and availability of equipment on site

Description/Scope of the assignment

In the main the assignment is a manegerial task (2.1) demanding high levels of coordination and the capacity to develop safe and economic delivery procedures. The transport operation itself (2.2) places high demands on individual drivers requiring them to continuously be aware of potential hazards.

The profiles below focus on road transport. Transport to offshore sites is a similarly structured assignment with logistics assignments focussed on harbour facilities.
