Description
- The outbreak of fire in a wind turbine is an emergency situation that calls for a rapid assessment of the fire type and the conditions in the immediate environment together with the selection of the appropriate reaction to ensure safety of personnel and where possible to constrain fire damage to the turbine
Scope
The assignment is grouped into 6 sub-assignments:
- Assess the fire type and identify actions required
- Sound the fire alarm
- If it is safe do so, fight fires using fixed and portable fire fighting equipment
- Isolate the fuel and other ignition sources
- Evacuate the turbine by the appropriate routes
- Document the incident and measures taken
