Description

  • The need for rescue from heights arises in emergency situations resulting from accidents or sudden illness. In such cases rehearsed rescue operations- self-evacuation, rescue of a casuality or assisted rescue - need to be implemented to ensure safe evacuation from the turbine

Scope

The assignment is grouped into 7 sub-assignments:

  • Assess the casualty in respect of his medical condition and ability to contribute to rescue operation
  • Select appropriate rescue technique for the recovery of a casualty and a safe rescue path:vertical ladder, within the hub, side of the hub or over the side of the nacelle
  • Raise the alarm and initiate selected emergency procedure
  • Ensure safe handling of the casualty before recovery
  • Conduct rescue operation ensuring safe handling of the casualty 
  • Provide appropriate treatment of the casualty on the ground until arrival of emergency services
  • Document incident and measures taken
